Snowy Engagement Photos

I am such a fan of snowy, winter engagement photos. I've even blogged about them before here. I just think there are no cuter clothes than scarves, hats, and boots and no cuter activity than playing in the snow with someone that you are just so crazy about that you've decided to spend the rest of your life together. And nobody seems to shoot these better than Rebekah Westover. Aren't these ones just perfect?

I am so, so, so deeply sad that these shoes Follow Me Moon on Etsy are too big. They are a 9.5, but labeled a size ten. They look adorable, don't they? I just nearly dropped dead, that's how much I love these limited edition hand-woven Queen's Head Stamp Rugs. I saw them this morning via Hopscotch. Be Mine, Valentine

What kind of Valentine's Day Reacter are you?

Do you like to wear red and pink? Or send funny valentines to people? Does your special somebody or other do something nice like bring you flowers? Do you go out with your girlfriends and get margaritas and just laugh and have a great time? Do you at least use it as an excuse to eat candy? I really hope so. Valentine's day has never been a holiday I really get into, but people who vehemently protest it just kind of bug me! Why not take a day, in the middle of the dreary winter, to just spread the love?

Everyone get's into the Christmas spirit by doing nice things for people, but nobody really thinks of V-day that way. That's why this year I am going to spend my Valentine's day smiling at strangers who look like their having a really terrible day, or holding the door for people, or letting a car or two pull out in front of me when I'm waiting to get out of the parking garage after work. I realize that it's a small step toward spreading the love, but that's why if those things aren't enough, I will still make sure to bring some candy.

SAG Situation

Okay, folks, since I had so much fun with my first Red Carpet Awards, I have decided to bring them back for the 2011 SAG Awards. Though, I was less enthusiastic about this red carpet in general, there were some definite stand-out celebs, in the best and worst ways. Thus, I bring you, round two of the Jenna Sais Quois Red Carpet Awards.

January Jones is my first pick for Best Dressed, and not because I felt guilty about putting her in the opposite category last time around. She just got it so right this time. Her dress is beautiful, her makeup is smashing, and her hair is indicative of the retro screen siren she plays on screen, and effervesces in life.

Amy Adams is my first pick for Worst Dressed, and it has everything to do with how this dress fits her body...I know she just had a baby but you have to consider the fit when picking your dress, and in this skin-tight bandage dress, she is all hips...Sorry, Amy. Try another silhouette next time!

Now onto a star who's dress fit beautifully, Amber Riley is my second pick for Best Dressed, and I am loving her in this dress. She embraces her figure and balances her shape with a full mermaid silhouette, and a sleek straight bang. Not to mention the poise and confidence that is radiating from within. Perfection!

Continuing the Glee portion of these awards, Diana Agron is definitely on the Worst Dressed list. She looks absolutely gorgeous with her smoky eyes, and sleek hair, but that vintage Chanel dress is a bizarre mix between full and cocktail length gowns. Also her accessories are nowhere to be found, which makes this feel a bit like she's going to the Homecoming Dance...

I am giving Lea Michele a Best Dressed award because this is her best red carpet look to date in my opinion. It softens her diva-attitude and gives her kind of a feminine, demure quality that I needed to see. She styled it perfectly, her hair is soft and pretty, and I love that thin belt. Clearly she meant business at the SAG Awards.

Jennifer Lawrence...Dont really know what movie/show you are from, but I won't soon forget this Worst Dressed look...the color, the material, the black accents, they all scream bad dance costume. And what fashion designer even made this dress? One of the rejects from the first two or three epsiodes of Project Runway...it's just not right. Oh no.

Prepster Babies

You may recall my fascination with hipster babies from this post, or this one...but today, I bring you the hipster baby with a touch of prep-school bravado: the Prepster baby. This collection by NANOS speaks to my soul when it comes to childrens' fashion. It really needs to be said that my biggest pet-peeve is dressing your child all in pink or blue. I rejoice when I see pint-sized clothing that gives your child a sense of personality and an extra bounce in their step. See for yourself!

Green Ribbon Tablescape

Here is an adorable tablescape idea for an event or wedding using woven ribbons and a crisp, clean color palette to kick your party or event up to the next level. It was featured on Martha Stewart Weddings with the green color palette ideas, and I think this would be a super easy and affordable way to make an impact.

Elie Saab Stunners

Have you seen the 2011 Spring Couture collection by Elie Saab? I have never seen a collection before where I would seriously wear every single piece, but this is the one. Every gown is sensational. And I really love the way it's organized by color, beginning with a gorgeous blush pink and giving way to smashing, dramatic black. And the textures on these gowns are so incredibly complex! I just can't say enough about how stunning this collection is. You have to see for yourself.

Happy

The weather is terrible, my e-mail inbox is bursting at the seams, and I slipped on a sheet of ice and almost broke my pelvis today. I am not feeling too terribly Jenna Sais Quois right now, so I will just leave you with a photo that makes me incredible happy. I love poppies, and boys in suits.

Groundhog's Day

Celebrity Crush Jetlag

I was never one of those little girls who convinced her parents to buy her a Teen Beat Magazine so I could moon over pictures of Devon Sawa or Leonardo DiCaprio. I just always thought that was dumb, and I was probably too busy reading The Babysitters Club anyway. Let's get real, here. I was definitely not one of those teenagers with celebrity crushes on Matt Damon or Ryan Phillipe, or whoever Seventeen magazine told us was such a dreamboat...I just never saw it. I was so underwhelmed.

This is why I don't understand why now, in my mid-twenties, I have developed my first celebrity crush on none other than Jorma Taccone of The Lonely Island and Saturday Night Live fame...I mean, what brought this on? I never even saw an SNL digital short in my life until last Friday! A friend showed me this (non-work-appropriate) video on YouTube, and I just really thought Andy Samberg's slightly pre-pubescent looking quasi-hipster friend was so adorable. Now, after watching a few more funny videos, it's official. I'm celeb-crushing about ten years too late.

That's a Wrap!

Today is National Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day (it was invented 51 years ago today) and the Ohio Union is taking it pretty seriously... Every banister is lined with the stuff. Every table in the building has some on it. They are giving away cans of pop, and popcorn, and even using a bubble machine to fill the place with bubbles. People are walking through the building, clearly trying to resist popping the Bubble Wrap, but it's just impossible! What is with this stuff? It just makes you happier. I read that the Sealed Air company, the manufacturers of Bubble Wrap, even has "stress-relief boxes" filled with it in their corporate offices for their employees to pop. The verdict: people love Bubble Wrap. And I can't think of a better way to beat those winter blues than popping some.
