Freudian Slip

One of my biggest challenges at work is that I had the very big shoes of Laura Sanders to fill! She is one of the most talented designers I've ever met (and a very funny stand-up comedienne as well), and she's definitely a designer with a very distinct style. The hard part is that when I took on her clients, a lot of them want things the way she would have done them...I feel a bit like the graphic designer equivalent of Julia Roberts in Stepmom.

This poster has been an ongoing quarterly thing for the Psychology Club at Ohio State, and features an illustration of Sigmund Freud doing seasonally appropriate activities. The first two images were created by Laura, and the third is the one I did while attempting to mimic Laura's style. I am proud of the final product, and hopefully the untrained eye won't know the difference! But what do your highly-trained eyes think?

  1. Outlines and shading on the snowman need to go. Creates a much harder look then predecessor's work.

  2. Good Morning,

Do you have a workable template of the Freudian flyers? I was recently elected for our college's counseling association and want to use these for our club meetings. They are epic!

    1. Hi J Littleton, unfortunately I do not have a template for these. I wish I did, but they were created several years (and computers) ago at an old job of mine, so I no longer have workable PSDs or illustrator files I could share. But best of luck with your club!
